“In Management Science, we are interested in everything that happens in an enterprise, organization or administration. We make use of theories from related disciplines (history, sociology and psychology) in an effort to better manage organizations. The performance issue is always present. We often visit enterprises; we observe, talk with people and sometimes distribute questionnaires. The main functions of the enterprises are represented in management science disciplines: human resource management, finance, marketing and information systems. I have obtained my certification and all my research has focused on ethical issues. I currently supervise PhD students who work on responsible management issues, particularly information technologies. IT on a global level is as polluting as civil aviation and is responsible for 2% of global CO2 emissions.

In the United States, I learned about the issue of professional equality between men and women. Equal pay is an ethical question. In France, I conducted a survey with the collaboration of my students based on 40 years of alumni who graduated between 1971 and 2011. We contacted 1332 alumni, interviewed 278 people and calculated that in the water sector, a male engineer who graduated from Polytechnique (University of Montpellier) earns on average 40% more than a female engineer. The second major issue is career advancement. There is a lack of self-confidence among women and they have a much higher obligation level. To improve this situation, there should be a strong political commitment and mothers and schools should educate boys and girls in exactly the same way. I would like to talk also about equality concept of Ying-Yang which has Chinese vision; it embodies the idea that men can develop their feminine side and women can recognize their masculine side.”
